the quality and design of this computer is i believe the best of any computer i've ever owned including my desktops. salesguy tried to talk me out of getting this one and said i should go with an asus. i'm guessing he would earn a spiff on those. he said the plastic was cheap. wrong. the fit and finish is durable and seemless. the keyboard is easy to use. mousepad is easy to use. battery life is about 6 hours. this was also the cheapest computer i've ever bought. cheapest yet the best! get yourself a Sammy! image quality is great and comes with silverlight ready to watch movies. powerful enough for video games too. i'm very happy with my decision.
Sammy gets the job done!

Got my "Sammy" with Christmas money at a bargain & I couldn't be happier. It does everything it is supposed to do & I use it daily for web surfing & email. This ultra-portable little gem has enabled me to stay in touch wherever I am & I am quite impressed with the keyboard/battery life. Prior to my purchase, I did my homework by checking various reviews on websites like Amazon, BB, CR, etc. This Samsung N130 Netbook (mine is black)seems to deliver the best bang for the buck. Granted, it is no speed demon but show me another comparable netbook at this price that is - I don't think there is one! In a word ... RECOMMENDED!
Best netbook for price, no doubt!

I've had this Samsung N130 for over 3 months now and I am still impressed. First off, it's not perfect, but for the price and my personal usage, it does everything I need. And overall very well. This is my first netbook, and I had researched many sites/reviews on all the majour brands, even almost bought an Acer. However, when I saw this one on sale at BB for $299, I decided it was the best thing for me. Up to that point I was set on buying a netbook w/XP b/c I had read that that was the best OS for such a small machine, but when this came w/Windows 7 (Starter) I felt it was the logical choice seeing how Microsoft is fazing out XP. And, I'm very happy I change at the last moment! Windows 7 seems to run flawlessly on this N130, no majour lags, boot times are faster than my old Dell w/XP, so I am very sastified w/Win7. I seem to get all the features I used to have on my old laptop but in a smaller screen, no noticable loss in quality.
In terms of the machine itself, everything is laid out perfectly--for me. My hands are small so no problems w/the keypad, easy to ajust the font and screen size, super quiet! As light as all other netbooks w/a 3 cell battery, and the overall build quality is top notch. I read that some said it feels "plasticky", I beg to differ. It has a solid feel and doesn't smudge. I usually hook up a mouse but the mouse pad gives me no problems; however, I will say that those w/large fingers may find it a very small surface area to work with.....
The speakers are o.k. but remember it's a small machine not a stereo. When I want to listen to my music, I simply hook up an external speaker and the sound is very nice. The webcam works well and takes good photos. Battery life is only 3 hours, which isn't great but I don't mind. I could buy a 6 cell pack but would lose the portabiltity factor AND would have to shell out more which would defeat my primary purpose of an "inexpensive" netbook.
My only negative is the video quality when I try to watch videos online. No problems when I use Media Player, but when I try to watch a newscast video, like NFL highlights, too choppy and not sychronized w/the audio. In defense, it seems to happen in some sites and not others. I'm not sure if getting a 2 gb memory upgrade would improve this, but yeah, the video quality does annoy me.
So, for those looking for an inexpensive, well built netbook, I'd definitatly recommend this Samsung N130. It surfs well (minus some online video sites) and is easy to use.
I don't think you'll find a better machine w/all these features--at this price.
Poorman's Macbook Air

Pros:

-Excellent Keyboard. It is smaller than an average keyboard but you hardly feel it. The ergonomics, touch and feel are excellent. Best in the market, I'd say.
-Battery. On actual usage in maximum brightness it lasts about 2.5 hours, which is about the same as older Macbook.
-Small adaptor. Much smaller than Macbook adapters or most notebook adaptors. 100-240 so you can use internationally.
-800b/g/n wi-fi compatibility. That means you can maximize your net-surfing speed to the best of wi-fi standard offered.
-Weight and shape. Feels very light, solid, rounded. Fits in a small bag nicely.
-ample USB ports and on both sides. You have 1 on left and 2 on right. Perfect for mouse attaching with short cords.
-Good enough screen. Not as high resolution as a notebook but for general purposes good enough. The screen is non-reflective matte. (I personally prefer glossy but that is just a matter of preference.)

Cons:

-Slower than a notebook. You feel almost everything is slower than your notebook. Application is slower. Downloading is slower. Net-surfing is slower. But there is no delay when you type. Slow, but not deal-breaker slow. You can certainly live with it.
-Pad click button too small. Initially you will push areas surrounding the button a lot especially if you have big fingers or in dark.
-Limited RAM. Only one slot for the RAM. You can put a 2 Giga Ram instead of 1 Giga Ram that comes inside and it will have an improved performance, though it will not have markedly better speed.
-When you watch video clips, most files will work just fine but HD files will display interruptions and out-of-sync motion with sounds. I don't know if this has something to do with processor speed or codec. But my other notebooks do not have this problem so I am noting it here.

Overall:

Bang for the Buck. For your general purpose usage with IE, Chrome, Safari, Skype, Microsoft Office, GOM player in Borders or other Wi-fi enabled places without adding unbearable weight to your back or emptying your wallet, you cannot go wrong with this product. Yes, you can always opt for Macbook Air -- if so you will be paying over $1000 premium for a better (much better) speed, bigger and brighter (much bigger and a bit brighter) screen, and sexier (subjective, but in general yes, though this one has its own cute charm) look. Highly recommended.
Excellent except for odd key layout

Liked the matte finish - most netbooks have shiny frame around screen and often shiny plastic around keyboard and fingerprint-attracting exterior. Liked the low fan noise - some netbooks are like a miniature chainsaw in a quiet room. The keys have nice feel and have good tactile feedback.

Had to return it to store because I couldn't type reliably on the keyboard.

The small key size wasn't the issue.

Problem was that I kept hitting the "=" key instead of the Backspace key.

I compared it side-by-side with other netbooks in the store and discovered that - in order to make the keys very slightly larger than the keys on other netbooks - Samsung made some of the keys a lot smaller, including the Backspace key.

With standard keyboards - and most netbooks - the left edge of the backspace key is centered above the "}]" key.

On this machine, the Backspace key is not centered, it is quite a bit over to the right. The keys in the top row of the keyboard are not centered over the next row down - as with most netbooks, notebooks, and full-size keyboards.

Same issue with other normally big keys - but the Backspace key was the big problem for me.

If you don't use the backspace key, or if you use only this netbook and not other keyboards (so you don't have to switch keyboards all the time) - then this is a fine unit.
